About Profit Cash Growth

Profit Cash Growth is an accountancy firm serving growing businesses turning over between £1 million and £20 million. We provide monthly management reports that go beyond compliance, alongside a Fractional Finance Director service. The reports you’ll be working on sit at the heart of those conversations. We’re rolling out a new client reporting portal to replace the spreadsheets and PDFs our clients currently receive. Every client will migrate onto it over the coming months, and we need help to make that happen.

The role

This is a migration role. Each of our clients currently receives a management report, built in a combination of Syft and Excel, and we’re moving these onto our custom built portal. The reports themselves are already designed in Excel; your job is to translate each one into the portal’s format, make sure the numbers match exactly, and fix anything that doesn’t. Specifically, you’ll:

• Take an existing client report (in Syft or Excel) and rebuild it inside our reporting portal
• Set up the underlying Excel input file that feeds each client’s numbers into the portal
• Configure the HTML report template so the layout, sections, and formatting match the existing report
• Cross-check the portal output against the original report, line by line
• Investigate and fix any discrepancies you find. If the issue is in the Excel input file, you fix the Excel. If the issue is in the HTML report template, you use Claude Code to make the fix. Only the trickiest cases escalate to the founder or FD.
• Use AI tools (mainly Claude and Claude Code) throughout the work, like an assistant.

What we’re looking for

Three things matter for this role.

• 1. You’ve used AI to build something real. Not day-to-day questions or drafting emails. You’ve directed an AI to build a project, a portal, a tool, or an automation. You know its limits, and you can tell when it’s making things up versus telling you the truth. You’ll spend the bulk of your day with Claude and Claude Code, so this isn’t a role to learn that style of working in.
• 2. Meticulous attention to detail. The whole job is about whether numbers tie. A 0.2% difference in gross margin between the old report and the new one isn’t something to gloss over, it’s a clue. You can sit with a sideby-side comparison for hours without your eye glazing over.
• 3. You understand a trial balance. Not academically, but practically. When profit doesn’t balance, you can problem-solve to the cause. When sales don’t reconcile back to source, you can trace it. You know how the P&L and balance sheet hang off the trial balance, and where the common breakage points are.

Also useful (not required)

• Strong Excel skills: formulas, structured workbooks, lookup functions
• Exposure to Syft & Xero
• Prior placement, internship, or work experience in a finance or accounting environment
• Familiarity with HTML basics (you’ll pick this up quickly with Claude’s help if not)
• A finance qualification or a degree (completed or in progress)

What you’ll get out of it

Engagement details

• 3-month fixed-term contract, with potential to extend
• Up to £35,000 per annum, pro-rata, depending on experience
• Office-based in Milton Keynes, 5 days per week. In-person working is important so you get proper support and pick things up quickly.
• Standard office hours, Monday to Friday
